NRNA, Japan facing financial irregularities dispute
TOKYO, June 23: A dispute over financial irregularities has surfaced in the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Japan.
Members of the working committee have started blaming each other after allegations of corruption were made against Committee President Devi Lal Bhandari.
The dispute surfaced in the Committee over the issue of financial irregularities of Rs 1.1 million taken as insurance from the family of a deceased.
A written request has been made to the international committee for investigation after the dispute was not settled immediately.
Earlier in 2017, NRNA, Japan, had faced corruption charges.
A majority of the members of the working committee including senior vice-president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary of the NRNA, Japan, blamed President Bhandari for his involvement in financial irregularities and have made preparations to suspend him if he does not resign from his post.
However, President Bhandari has argued that he has not committed any financial irregularities, saying it was only a false accusation. This dispute has created doubts over holding the NRNA, Japan’s convention on time.
